Yasuke tells the tale of the only non-Asian ever to be honored with the title of a Samurai. This long lost legend of a foreigner who rose in rank to become a Samurai was brought in the limelight by Thomas Lockey and Geoffrey Girard. They relived the unsung tale of the mighty African Samurai through their biography about Yasuke.
Since then the book has been adopted into various animes, comics, manga and, very soon, a movie.

Plot and Cast
Nothing has been officially announced yet. But it is probable that the movie will follow the actual biography ‘African Samurai: The True Story of Yasuke, a Legendary Black Warrior in Feudal Japan’, by Thomas Lockey and Geoffrey Girard. The story goes as follows:
Yasuke was a native of Portuguese Mozambique. He was enslaved and brought to India and then Japan by Jesuit missionaries. Being the first black man to walk on Japanese soil, he caught the attention of Oda Nobunaga, a feudal warlord. Nobunaga fancied the strength of the foreigner and took him to battles with an ambition to unify Japan under one banner.
The movie will pluck the strings of this historically unusual relationship from friendship and respect to the honor of a Samurai.
Not much has been revealed about the cast except one confirmation that the character of Yasuke will be played by Chadwick Boseman. Boseman is noted for his acting in Black Panther and Marshall.
Recently Netflix announced that a brand new anime series is on the way based on the first Samurai of African origin. The series is going to be executive produced by Lakeith Stanfield, of Atlanta and Flying lotus and co-directed by the one and only, LeSean Thomas.
With the interest of people rising in Japanese anime series and Samurai action, the show is expected to be blockbuster. Moreover, it is based on historical events, which makes the story all the more believable.
The plot of the series will follow a more detailed version of the movie according to the biography of the warrior. This will give the world another superhero from the far East.
That’s all that has been revealed by the makers. Be sure to keep up with us to know more.
