Nepotism isn’t always bad. Especially when they inherit not only the family business but also the intelligence and character required to carry it. Enola Holmes, an upcoming Netflix movie belonging to the mystery genre is an excellent testimony to that statement.
Enola Holmes is a mystery film based on the book series of the same name by Nancy Springer, that reimagines the intelligently constructed world of Sherlock Holmes by putting his younger sister, Enola, at the heart of all action. Read on to know more.
The Plot of the movie
The movie chronicles the tale of Enola Holmes, who is the younger sister of her already famous brother Sherlock Holmes and Mycroft Holmes. Setting of the movie is in the 19th century of England. On her 16th birthday, Enola discovers that her mother has disappeared without a clue.
With only this much information in hand Enola is stuck with her elder brothers who are determined to sending her away to a finishing school to groom her into a ‘proper’ young lady. Rule-breaking runs in the family’s blood; Enola escapes against the wishes of her brothers and embarks on an adventure to search for her mother in London.
But when her journey finds her entangled in a mystery surrounding a young runaway Lord, Enola turns into a super-sleuth in her own right, she outwitted her popular brother as she unravels a conspiracy that threatens to set back the course of history.
For all that we know, this brilliant teenager outwitted the most renowned detective of her time. The story of Sherlock’s sister, who many didn’t know even existed, has brought a strong feminine angle to the movie. Henry Cavill, who plays Sherlock Holmes in the movie, has commented that the movie is quite untraditional in the manner that it is not just another Sherlock Holmes movie, it is an Enola Holmes movie.
